Spring 2009 Tax Seminars

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) organizes tax seminars for UNC-Chapel Hill international students and scholars who file as non-residents for tax purposes. For general information regarding filing as nonresidents for tax purposes please check here.

Please note: some seminars may cover only Federal tax forms for non-resident aliens, while other seminars may cover both federal and North Carolina state forms for non-resident aliens. Everyone is welcome to attend any of the free seminars.

UNC-CH students and scholars who file as non-residents for tax purposes are encouraged to come to one or all of these presentations and should bring their tax documents (W-2, 1099 and/or 1042S), along with tax forms (preferably already penciled in), and prepared questions.

Tax forms and instruction publications needed by those filing as a non-resident for tax purposes will be available at the International Student and Scholar Services office, at the tax seminars, and online.  To download online forms go to www.irs.gov for federal tax forms and to www.dor.state.nc.us for North Carolina state tax forms.  Although the International Student and Scholar Services staff cannot assist anyone with tax questions, there are tax guides, instruction publications, and telephone numbers available for students and scholars at the International Student and Scholar Services office.
