Change of Address Notification

U.S. Federal regulations require non-immigrants present in the U.S. for more than 30 days to report ALL changes of their name or U.S. Address to USCIS within ten days of the change. For international students and scholars at UNC-Chapel Hill the method of reporting your address or name change may differ depending on your visa status and your visa sponsorship. Please pay careful attention to the instructions below and contact OISSS if you have any questions on this requirement.

For International Students in J-1 or F-1 visa status under UNC-Chapel Hill visa sponsorship:
Reporting your address to International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) must be done online at Student Central (http://studentcentral.unc.edu).  Your place of physical residence should be entered in the “Immigration Reporting” address field.  You are required to update any changes to your address on Student Central within 10 days of any such change.

For International Students in J-1 or F-1 status NOT under UNC-Chapel Hill visa sponsorship:
In addition to reporting your address via student central, address or name changes must be reported to the program sponsor which issued your immigration document (I-20 or DS-2019) so that they report this address change via SEVIS.

For International Students in other visa statuses:
In addition to reporting your address via student central, you must also report your address within ten days to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on form AR-11, available at International Student and Scholar Services or on-line

For International Scholars in J-1 status under UNC-Chapel Hill visa sponsorship:
Reporting your address to International Student and Scholar Services must be done via email or by stopping by the office in person and filling out an address change form.

For International Scholars in J-1 status NOT under UNC-Chapel Hill visa sponsorship:
In addition to reporting your address via email or by stopping by ISSS in person and filling out an address change form, address or name changes must be reported to the program sponsor which issued your DS-2019 form.

For all other International Scholars in visa statuses other than J-1:
In addition to reporting your address via email or by stopping by ISSS in person and filling out an address change form, you must also report your address within ten days to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on form AR-11, available at International Student and Scholar Services or on-line
