Tax Seminars

Advising | English Language Opportunities | Tutors | Student Affairs

Photo: Conversation Partners International Student and Scholar Services maintains several on-going programs. They are designed to help students and their families feel more comfortable while they are here at UNC-Chapel Hill and to provide opportunities to meet different kinds of people in different environments. All the programs listed are open to students. Programs open to scholars include Orientation, International Women's English Conversation Group, Tax Seminars, International Student Organizations, and Advising.

International Student and Scholar Services also administers the Class of 38 Summer Abroad Fellowship Program for U.S. sophomores and juniors who want to pursue an independent project in another country

Advising
Advising and counseling services for foreign students and scholars are primarily concerned with non-immigrant visa matters, but other types of personal advising (financial, academic, cross-cultural adjustment, etc.) are offered as well. Referral to other campus support services is common.

English Language Opportunities
ISSS provides a directory of some ESL programs in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham, and Greensboro, North Carolina. The directory is available at ISSS or on our Resources: ESL.

The International Women's  English Conversation Group also provides an opportunity for students and scholars to immerse themselves in the English Language.

Tutors
International Student and Scholar Services has a directory which includes a list of private tutors.

Student Affairs
Students are at the center of the Carolina learning community. To ensure a
successful experience, students are encouraged to take advantage of a variety of programs and services that promote student learning and development. Student Affairs includes departments and offices such as University Career Services, Housing and Residential Education, Campus Health Services, and more.
