The International Student and Scholar Orientation Counselor Program is designed to assist newly-arrived international students at UNC-Chapel Hill with cultural adjustment, and to provide an opportunity for intercultural exchange among students, both international and American. We are looking for undergraduates and graduate students who are willing to return to Chapel Hill a week before classes begin. This period is probably the most confusing and trying time for new foreign students, so it is very important that Orientation Counselors be available then.
There are many ways to help new students settle into their new living situations in Chapel Hill. Orientation Counselors generally help newly arrived students with setting up checking accounts, preparing for registration, buying textbooks, and general shopping needs.
Does the Program Begin?
Being an Orientation Counselor is always a rewarding experience, and you will no doubt find a number of ways besides those mentioned in which you might be helpful to new students. We look forward to your participation in this program. For more information, stop by International Student and Scholar Services, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 962-5661.
