In this section, there is information on the most common immigration statuses that are used for academic staff at the University. These statuses are: F-1 Students on Optional Practical Training, J-1 Exchange Visitor, H-1B Temporary Worker, O-1 Alien of Extraordinary Ability, TN Trade NAFTA, and Permanent Residence. Non-U.S. Citizens in these statuses are often referred to as "scholars" at UNC-Chapel Hill. Other helpful information for incoming and current international scholars can also be found in this section.
